Belly Fat is one of the most common forms of obesity. If you are fat you are harming your body each day. I'm not saying this to scare you but you should be aware of this so you can take appropriate action to rectify this situation. The more fat you have attached to your body, the more arterial blocking that goes on which greatly increases the risk of a heart attack or a stroke. Also various types of bacteria and viruses make a comfortable home for themselves inside your fat. Finally when you are overweight you open the flood gates to mental illness like depression, terrible self esteem and muscle fatigue. These type of things won't allow you to be all you can be and accomplish as much as if you were thin.

When you are shopping for groceries, pay closer attention to what you purchase. Make sure you take a good look at the labeling on each product you decide to purchase. Calorie counting is important, but what's even more important is to stay away from foods that are high in sugars and carbohydrates. You need a certain amount of carbs but when your body takes in a plethora of them, they tend to store themselves as fat in your system and will stay there unless you burn it off. Some people buy food based on what they want to eat and don't even care about how it will affect there body. Please don't fall into this dangerous trap. Since once you buy food you probably will feel guilty about wasting it, so you'll end up consuming it and gaining weight instead.

The other thing you need to do is start working out. I can't jog or run myself, I haven't been able to do this for about 20 years now. But instead I walk around the block almost every night. It releases endorphins in my body and curbs my appetite naturally. When you workout or exercise you should never put excess strain on your body. Only do what you are comfortable doing and you'll notice your entire metabolism change over the next few months. People who are on a consistent exercise regimen are known to be healthier, feel better and live longer than those who don't. If you are only a couple of blocks from your post office or grocery store, why not try getting in the habit of walking there to take care of your business. A little initiative goes a long way when your health is concerned.

I think educating yourself is one of the best things you can do when it comes to your health. You only get one body and one of my college professors told me once that knowledge is cumulative. What this means is the more you know about something the more you'll be able to learn even more about the subject.
