Some ED Drug Warnings

There are warnings that men that take erectile dysfunction medications have to know before the consumption of these drugs and to speak to their doctor.

The ED medications such Generic Viagra, Cialis, as well as Bevitra are all approved by the FDA, but they do come with side-effects in some that can be dangerous or deadly in some cases. These drugs work by increasing the blood flow to a male’s penis while relaxing the smooth muscles in this area of the body and in this process the drugs can also cause drops in blood pressure that lead to some side-effects in some men.

A recent alert about the prospective side-effects of ED medications like Generic Viagra was issued in recent years noting that a very small percentage of men who take these medications can suffer from optic neuropathy which is also known as an optic stroke. This causes a person to suddenly lose their eye site because of blockage to the optic nerve. The greatest portion of the population that can be affected by this terrible side-effect are those males that are over 50 years and who smoke. Others at risk are the males over 50 years that have pre-existing conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and certain eye issues.

In recent years, the FDA has demanded the drug companies that manufacture ED medications like Generic Viagra and Cialis to write these warnings on the product labels. Consequently, now the labels of these products note that there is a risk of optic stroke from these products. Critics may say that a warning about the risk of optic stroke is not appropriate for the little risk involved, but others debate that any risk should be noted for the consumer to decide if the product is right for them. In the case of Generic Viagra only the warnings for systemic drop in the blood pressure of someone taking it has been present on the labels for quite some timeFree Web Content, but Cialis and Levitra have not had these warnings on their labels until recently mostly because of the fact that these are newer ED medications.
