The Truth Behind Gynecomastia

As a man, if you suffer from gynecomastia, you can feel embarrassed and loose self confidence. Read on to learn the underlying causes and ways you can reduce the size of your chest through surgical and non-surgical options.

To both men and women, the form and beauty of the body is important to them. Although there are variations in comfort for weight, there are abnormalities that can make a person feel inferior, embarrassed, and hurt. For men, this generally comes from a figure that is less than manly. Being overweight is one thing, but if people tell you that you have man boobs, moobs, or man titties, this can be extremely hurtful and detrimental to your outlook on life.

These are a lot of hurtful terms for a condition called gynecomastia. This condition causes breasts to form on men. Some of the causes for this condition include excess alcohol consumption, developmental problems during puberty or it may even simply be genetic. In severe cases, men may even lactate. This condition can cause extreme self-loathing and discomfort for men both in social situations and with themselves. It is important to know that many men share these issues and it is nothing that cannot be addressed through male breast reduction surgery.

The underlying cause of gynecomastia is an imbalance in hormones. Both men and women have estrogen and testosterone in the body but testosterone informs the body for male development and estrogen informs the body for female development. Too much estrogen in a man’s body may cause their breasts to enlarge. Although this is genetic, it can sometime be exacerbated by foods such as dairy and meat. Aside from breast reduction surgery there are foods you can eat that are rich in testosterone like beans and garlic. There are also estrogen-inhibiting foods like grapes and berries.

Gynecomastia is also associated with being overweight. Although it is not overdeveloped fatty deposits, being overweight can affect the size of your chest overall, making your breasts appear larger. By loosing excess weight you will loose significant breast tissue without breast reduction surgery. It is also important to exercise in addition to a diet. Cardio will help you loose body fat overall, helping you to loose any excess weight in your chest. Pectoral exercises will especially aid in reducing you male breast size by strengthening the muscles of your chest to show a more muscular shape rather than a feminine shape.

When all of you hard work still results in embarrassingly large breasts, there is always surgery to correct the nature created mistake. Like female breast reduction surgery, it removes tissues that cause the enlargement. You will have to practice good eating habit and continue to exercise in order to properly maintain your surgery, but it will certainly be easier once surgically corrected. You don’t have to feel bad about your figure anymore. These tips as well as gynecomastia surgery can correct your abnormality.
