Tummy Tuck – Fading Your Scar

With a few preventative measures alongside the necessary attention after surgery, it is possible for patients to effectively fade the scar obtained from a tummy tuck. By taking the time to properly treat your skin, you have a much better chance of realizing the best results possible once the scar has completely healed. In this article we will outline a few steps to help you do just that.

Materials:

• Cocoa Butter
• Vitamins
• Olive Oil
• Mederma
• Lemon Juice
• Aloe
• Retinal Cream
• Heat

Step 1 – Roughly two months prior to your surgery, begin downing a multi vitamin e capsule daily in order to make your skin as healthy as possible. Healthy skin equates to quicker healing. In addition, you may also try massaging your skin each day with cocoa butter or olive oil.

Step 2 – Take part in a discussion with your physician and make it known that you would like the incision as low on the torso as possible. This way, you will be able to wear bikinis and panties without showing any signs of the scar.

Step 3 – Post surgery, do everything in your power to help your skin heal. Be sure to follow any and all instructions provided by your physician and continue to actively take your vitamins.

Step 4 – Though the area will look a bit scary initially, this is the best time to help the healing process along. Make sure to ask your surgeon before applying anything to your scar. Once you’re in the safe zone, begin adding Mederma to your daily skin care routine. In addition, try applying a basic retinol cream before you go to bed each night. The retinol with help in stimulating the collagen and help the scar become much less noticeable and smooth.

Step 5 – As time goes on and the scar begins to fade, you can start massaging the area a little more vigorously with aloe gels and olive oil. These techniques work to increase the overall blood flow to the area while nourishing the skin.

Step 6 – While tanning beds are frowned upon in regard to skin cancer, they work wonderfully when used as a scar treatment. If you’re truly concerned about the effects of the tanning bed, try covering your face and wearing clothing while exposing the scar area.

Step 7 – Keep your treatments up and watch your scar start to magically disappear. It may take a while, but the results are certainly worth it! For more in depth treatments, you may even consider seeking the aid of an experienced dermatologist later on.
