Pregnancy is one of the most beautiful things that could happen to a mother.  However,Understanding Yeast Infection During Pregnancy And Avoiding It Articles this is also the time where she can be held affected by certain harmful conditions, such as yeast infection.

Yeast infection is a condition that is not unusual to find.  Although it may be considered as harmless, it cannot be denied that if you are suffering from this condition, you will experience discomfort and inconvenience – whether you are pregnant or not.  And more often than not, yeast infection is not harmless to pregnant women.  This is because of the possibility that if allowed to grow in large numbers, this could lead to the ingestion of the baby inside the womb of these nasty micro organisms, which of course has no positive effects at all.

Yeasts love to live in the wet and damp areas of a person’s body, which includes the vagina.  Again, it must be remembered that the presence of yeasts per se, is not really harmful.  There is only a problem when the number of these micro organisms multiplies uncontrollably until the time comes that the body is unable to defend itself anymore.  When this happens, the body loses balance, and infection results.

Pregnant women are more susceptible to yeast infection because of the different hormonal changes which she will experience during pregnancy.  During this time, she will also have a higher sugar level compared to others, which will attract these yeasts even more, because of the fact that they love to feed on them.  And when they do, they will multiply into such great numbers if left unheeded.  Hence, this is something which you should not allow.

Yeast infection has many symptoms.  The most common are itchiness, redness of the vagina, soreness, and the presence of cottage-cheesy discharges from the vagina.  One who is suffering from this condition will also suffer from a burning sensation when urinating.  Hence, if you are experiencing one or some of these symptoms, and you are pregnant, consultation with your obstetrician is a must.  Always remember that you are in a very delicate condition and negligence will not only affect you but your baby as well.

Your doctor is the only one who can make the proper diagnosis as to whether you are suffering from yeast infection or not.  He will be the one who will be able to determine as to whether the symptoms that you are experiencing is due to yeasts and not something else.  He will also be the one to determine as to which medications will be safe for you, and which will be not.

If you are tempted to do some self medication, please do not allow it.  Always ask for your doctor’s consent when you are planning on trying some new remedies, whether alternative or conventional.  Through this, you will be able to ensure that your baby and you stay as safe as you guys should be.

Yeast infection is not a laughing matter, and it is not as simple as you may presume it to be.  This is because of the fact that there are two who will be harmed by this problem if handled improperly – you and the baby.  This is why it is quite necessary that the doctor’s approval is obtained, before you decide to start treating yourself your yeast infection.  Otherwise, you might regret it.
