Walk in Clinic: When Urgent Travel Plans Arise

A late night telephone call delivers the news to an individual that they are needed in a locale outside of the country, as soon as possible. A check of their records reveals the fact a few of their vaccinations have lapsed. What do they do at this hour of the night? They must get to the airport, so a walk in clinic may be able to assist a traveler with the needed vaccinations, and per their policy, no appointment is necessary.

A last minute business trip, an illness or the sudden death of a loved one can result in a quick and unexpected trip out of the country. If the realization hits that vaccinations that are necessary to allow travel have expired, and are needed as soon as possible, a visit to a walk in clinic may be the solution to this dilemma. And should there be prescriptions that require refills that may be needed while abroad, those too can be taken care of at the clinic.

Many individuals are choosing to make use of a local walk in clinic for many reasons. The first is the convenience factor they meet. Most cities have a clinic and they offer more flexible hours of operation than a standard doctor's office: open seven days a week and no appointment necessary to see a doctor or nurse.

The second reason there is a growing population making use of the walk in clinic is the broad spectrum of services available for non-life threatening illnesses or injuries, and care is provided by advanced patient and urgent care trained doctors and nurses. This excellent staff is capable of carrying out treatment for various conditions:

- Colds, coughs, allergies, earaches, infections and fever

- Broken bones, sprains, bites and rashes

- Digital X-rays can be taken and copied to a CD for the patient to take with them after treatment is completed (so their own doctor can have a copy on file).

- With an on-site pharmacy, prescriptions can be written and filled before the patient leaves the facility, and lab results can be provided during that same visit.

Another reason patients are turning to these clinics is the ability to receive care that requires a doctor's attention, but does not necessitate a trip to the emergency room. A visit to an ER can be significantly more costly than the fees for services provided at one of the clinics. While insurance will cover a portion of the ER visit, a walk in clinic accepts insurance too, but is able to provide urgent care at a discounted price. Also, all labs, medications and x-rays can be dispensed on site, so it seems to be a logical alternative choice for a patient to make use of these facilities when a need arises vs. incurring exorbitant debt from the ER for similar medical treatment.

The walk in clinic staff takes pride in displaying their sense of teamwork, cooperation, compassion and integrity to each one of their patient's. Respect and kindness is an essential component to making the patient feel they are in good hands with this medical team. Each member is a licensed professional in areas ranging from urgent care, pediatrics, sports medicine and advanced patient careComputer Technology Articles, so the person seeking treatment should feel confident they are in the right place.
