By far the most important women health issues today is cancer of the breast. You can even examine your breasts periodically for anything irregular, like a small bump or hard spot.
But, if you think something, don't panic. Don't assume all bump means cancer. There are many different types of benign breast lumps.
Reasons Behind Lumps
- Breasts Cysts. Cysts are sacks of fluid that develop in older women usually just before menopause. They were natural and relatively harmless, and sometimes so small they can't be detected by your fingers. They will often get away by themselves, or a physician might recommend draining the fluid using a needle.
-Fibroadenomas are like cysts, apart from they're comprised of fibrous and glandular tissue and also fluid. Generally, they feel rubbery and may be moved around a little bit. Like cysts, they may be removed having a needle. The're harmless, but your doctor may wish to extract some tissue to discover and verify that it is not cancerous.
-Injuries often cause benign lumps. These are typically pockets of fatty tissue that are fitted with developed caused by some injury to the inside of the breast. You can imagine it as something similar to a bruise. Fat can even accumulate as "lipoma." That is a hardened lump of fat that frequently seems like a lump.
Other Causes. There may be also an infection as part of your breasts, and a few medications cause mysterious lumps. Other women health problems can cause swelling, pain or increased sensitivity.
