In today modern day living central heating as become one of the must have things in our home. They keep homes warm during the winter season and provide us luxury and comfort. Is will also be impossible to dry the clothing without radiators when the climate outside is freezing or when it is pouring. The whole point of central heating is to provide warmth to the interior of the building or home from one point. The most commonly used unit involves the combustion of fossil fuels in a boiler or furnace. The heat which is generated from the boiler is spread along the home through ducts,Types of Central Heating Articles by making water circulate in the pipes or by forcing the steam through heat pumps into the places that require heating. Let’s have an overview of the various types of central heating that are available.

Types of Central Heating

By the circulation of water through boilers, pump and radiators central heating can be achieved. Normally in a boiler or heat exchanger the water is heated in a closed system. In a pump the water is circulated in a closed system and finally radiators consist of mountable panels through which the heated water is passed to spread heat to the rooms.

Vented System

Thought they are not less popular nowadays they are still widely used in many residential buildings. Cold water is passed through the vented systems at a low pressure from the cisterns. To ensure the efficiency of the system they are located at a greater height when compared to other system components. They are also used for holding hot water in copper hot water cylinders. The various components include the boilers, radiators, flues and feed expansion tank.

Combi boiler system

These systems are a used for dual heating purpose for water and central heating of homes and buildings hence the name combi boiler system. The combi boiler system has fewer components when compared to the vented system but it rather expensive and more sophisticated. It is very efficient and convenient to install. When compared to other options for heat is much beneficial as it eliminates the need for a storage tank and saves a space. It is also very efficient and the maintenance cost is low. Newly built homes mostly install this type of system because of its advantages.

Hydronic systems

Hydronic system circulates the water for warming. The system heats the room through boiler to heat the water and a pump is used to circulate the heated water in plastic pipes which are installed in slabs of concrete. These slabs are placed on the floors so it carries the hot water providing warmth to the surface thus broadcasting the heat energy to the room from above. This system is a closed loop system where the same fluid is reheated again.

Heat pumps

They are used majorly in countries having a milder climate. The system works by drawing the heat from the outside air when the weather is cold. When temperatures are colder geo thermal pumps are used for heating the buildings and rooms which are far more economical and efficient to use.

These are the common central heating systems that are widely available in the market today.
