Building Your Own Shed: Build A Simple Shed 101
Instead of purchasing a shed that's sure to hurt your budget more often than not, building your own shed is a better idea. To build a simple shed is not that difficult, plus, the materials are usually affordable.
Before you can build a simple shed, you first need to have complete materials to build a shed. Of course, the kind of materials to be used will depend on the design you like, e.g. wood shed designs, steel-shed designs, or the construction plans you will be following.
The designs that are considered perfect when you plan to build a simple shed are: the so called Apex shaped shed, and the Pent shaped shed. Apex sheds are characterized by a roof with a pointed tip located in the middle. Pent sheds, on the other hand, have roofs that are characterized by slopes that start from the highest portion, then, end at the lowest portion.
When building your own shed and you're aiming for wider headroom, the Apex wood shed designs, Apex steel, or Apex plastic designs are advisable. If you want your shed to have more doors and windows, you can build a shed based on the Pent design.
Once you've made your decision on the actual design, you have to make a decision in terms of which materials to build a shed you'd like to focus on. For instance, if a shed made out of wood is your preference, you can expect your materials to be mainly composed of wood e.g. plywood, lumber, maple, and so on. If you want your shed to be formed out of plastic or metal, you can look for those kinds of materials prior to building your own shed.
Take note, however, that the kind of materials you plan to use will vary in prices, and, of course, the advantages and disadvantages. If all you want is to build a simple shed that can endure almost any type of weather, wood shed designs are what you should follow. If you want a shed that won't be eaten by insects and would last for so many years, you can opt for a metal shed. Plastic sheds, on the other hand, will surely please your kids, and also won't be destroyed that easily by storms, typhoon, etc.
Building your own shed only requires basic carpentry skills. Basic materials to build a shed are also the usual requirements. When you build a simple shed, not only do you get to value it more since it was made by your own hands -- you also get to save a number of dollars, that you won't be able to do when you purchase sheds from stores.
