The origins of the cordless drill date back a bit further then you might anticipate with the earliest example of the concept being displayed at the dawn of humanity over 30,000 years ago where it was nothing but a pivoting rock. From there the next technological breakthrough was with the Egyptians who progressed the tool and made it much more manageable. However,Cordless Drill Articles it wasn’t until much later that much progress was made and it took the shape of the tool you see today. In 1889 in Australia two men named William Brain and Arthur Arnot created the first ever non-portable model after electric driven motors begun to be utilised which soon revolutionised the entire tool industry.

Six years later a man in Germany took this invention to the next level and created the first ever successful prototype and the process was completed. In 1917 Black & Decker(now Stanley Black & Decker) patented this piece of equipment and the pistol shape model that we see today came into existence - and hasn’t changed too much since.

The basic purpose of a cordless drill is to create a hole for building or construction purposes. It does this using either a hammering or rotary form of movement that drives the metal tip or edges through the material.

Over time although the design and function hasn’t changed much the power has, with batteries becoming more powerful and more affordable and the progress in parts manufacturing, modern day models are super efficient relatives of their former state.

A cordless drill has a million and one uses and is popular in all sectors of the construction and tool industries. Whether it’s metalworking, woodworking, DIY jobs or for small to large scale construction you will find them everywhere - the example in the power tool industry to what can be achieved with a little ingenuity.
