In the 70's and 80's people didn't really consider the decoration of their bathroom too much. As long as it looked clean and hygienic then the décor served its purpose. Swanky bathrooms seemed to be reserved for high class restaurants or café bars,Create a stunning bathroom with sparkly tiles Articles or the rich and famous. The rest of us would just put up with an old avocado green bathroom suite with matching textured vein tiles, which were seemingly the only tile design available in those two decades as they were everywhere! These days we want our bathroom to make more of a statement and what better way than with sparkly galaxy tiles?

Galaxy tiles are a type of granite tile, either very dark brown or black which feature a myriad of gold or silver flecks giving the appearance of a galaxy full of stars. These granite tiles definitely have the 'wow' factor and when used sensitively, can work well in any sized bathroom, both large and small. I've read many bathroom design guides and many state that dark tiles in smaller bathrooms made the space feel too small, however this is not necessarily true. Dark tiles with a white grout create a very definite grid pattern which gives the illusion of more space rather than less, and using galaxy granite tiles draws the eye deeper in, almost beyond the grout, further enhancing the illusion of more space.

Sparkly tiles are also available in a wide variety of other colours too, if you're not convinced that dark granite tiles are the best choice for your bathroom. Whether you choose white, cream, green or blue, they'll all make your bathroom the envy of your friends and family. You don't have to stick with the bog standard white or off white grout as some beautiful effects can be created using different coloured grouts. For example, imagine cream sparkly tiles with a darker earthy grout applied between them, or blue sparkly tiles with a brighter, paler blue grout which will draw out the blue flecks in each tile.

Granite tiles are available in a wide range of styles and colours, but my personal favourite are galaxy granite tiles. They are available in a variety of sizes including mosaic tiles, which can be used to create a frieze effect which could contrast perfectly with the larger galaxy granite tiles. The mosaic tiles come in sheets of around 300mm square which makes them very easy to apply. Each sheet can be trimmed to make them even more versatile. Whatever style of tile you choose, consider how you can mix and match full size and mosaic tiles together and by being creative with the grout, you can create a stunning and unique bathroom design.
