Emergency Response System

An emergency response system is an easy-to-operate electronic gadget that is utilized to summon assistance in case of an emergency

It is also known as Personal Emergency Response System. The emergency alert system is a no-fuss instrument as it is specifically aimed for disabled people or senior citizens who live alone. This device is created to offer immediate response and protection during any crisis.

The Medical Emergency Response Systemis used by people who suffer from serious medical conditions and are incapable of physical movements. The great part about emergency response system is that it is extremely lightweight and portable. There are two types of emergency alert systems available – monitored and the non-monitored.

A monitored emergency system consists of 3 basic components:

• A radio transmitter with the help button
• A console interconnected to the phone line
• Connection to the emergency response centers for receiving the alert call

During an emergency the user has to press the “Help’ button of the transmitter. A wireless signal is sent to the console that converts it into a digital signal. Subsequently the digital signal is transmitted to a receiver at the monitoring center through the phone line. After receiving the signal the operator at the monitoring center can talk to the client to understand what kind of assistance is needed. In case the client cannot be communicated, then the operator immediately informs the persons listed as the caregivers. However, if the monitoring center cannot contact anyone, they will inform the appropriate emergency help such as paramedics and so on. Some devices are not equipped with the speaker and just send the signal to the monitoring center. Then they contact the caregivers or 911 depending on the urgency of the situation. You can install different functions such as burglary and fire alarm.

A non-monitored emergency system comprises of 2 sections:

• A portable radio transmitter provided with a speaker phone
• A console with a connection to the phone line

During a crisis the user presses the transmitter’s button and sends a wireless signal to the console that transfers the call directly to 911 emergency services. The user communicates with the 911 operator.
