Kitchen Appliance Manufacturers

A guide to European manufacturers of Kitchen Appliances. See the different brands available and the products they promote throughout the UK and mainland Europe

Kitchen appliances have become more technically complex from the control side recently with the introduction of the various Energy Labelling rules across the world. This has meant that the appliances have been forced to become more and more efficient leading to more accurate controllers in order to meet the regulations. Major appliances may be roughly divided into refrigeration equipment, stoves or cookers, washing equipment such as dishwashers and washing machines.

With new appliances make sure you check the warranty period and type. Some guarantees include more time for parts but labour is just one year, which can be very costly. Some manufacturers offer a 5 years parts and labour warranty, such as De-Dietrich, AEG, Fagor and Luxair, but not all models are covered. The BSH group offers 2 years across the board, as does Tecnik and Baumatic.

If you are buying appliances on the internet, please check that they are registered dealers so you are sure you will receive the correct support if needing a service call on a faulty appliance.

Throughout the UK there are over 30 mainstream appliance manufacturers who offer their models for retail to the general public. The largest brands being the Indesit group which also includes the make Hotpoint, and BSH group comprising of Bosch, Neff and Siemens. Most modern appliances are covered by at least 2 years warranty, although there are some offering a more attractive 5 years for both parts and labour. At the budget end of the market are suppliers like Baumatic and CDAHealth Fitness Articles, offering great loking and good quality appliances for less than the German brands.
