But advancements have been made in the manufacturing of metal roofs, and now wood shake, slate, and clay tile are just a few of the styles of metal roofs available to home owners anywhere in the country. If the roof of the home has a leak, buckles or blistering, a roofing company should be called in to evaluate the shingles, fascia, flashing and underlayment. A full tear-off may not be required and a simple repair or a patch may solve the problem, but only a licensed, bonded, certified and BBB accredited roofing company can make that decision. A homeowner should request proof of these certificates prior to allowing an evaluation, as a roof tear-off and replacement is a large financial commitment. Only a company that has experienced and trained installers, familiar with maneuvering around slopes, gables, mansard, peaks and shed roofs, are experienced with installing flashing around chimneys, skylights and roof vents, should be hired for the job. Insist on proof that new flashing and membrane has been installed, as well as new wood, if necessary.
