Whether you are planning to have a contemporary, country, rustic, Zen-like or minimalist decor in your living room, proper placement of the furniture pieces is important. To get you started, here are a few steps that you can follow:
1.    Clear out the entire room and survey it with a blank slate.
If you want a living room makeover, the best way to go about decorating it is to start off with a blank slate. Remove everything from the room so that you can view things from a fresh perspective. Does the room lack pizzazz? Would you like it to be a relaxing space, but right now it looks too busy with too many details?

2.    Jot down ideas and decide on a decorating theme.
After surveying the room with fresh eyes, you can take note of some decorating ideas which come to mind. Decide on the wall color and list down some options on which type of a sofa would look great in the room. Is a sectional leather sofa better than a traditional couch? No matter how big or small a living room it is that you have, taking the time and effort in decorating it and furnishing it well would go a long way towards improving its look.
