One of the first things you are going to need to do is find moisturizing soap,Tips for Cleaning Leather Furniture Articles preferably as natural as you can get. This type of soap is free of oils and will clean the leather deeply, while still leaving it manageable and soft to the touch. You should, however, test a small spot of the leather, somewhere that no one will notice, to see if it harms it in any way. Some soap has a high concentration of lye, and this can cause a burning or slight bleaching effect on leather. If it passes the test, then you are free to use the soap.

You should use a damp wash cloth and allow the liquid moisturizing soap to soak into it before rubbing it on the leather. If you use too much water in the wash cloth, it can cause the leather to tighten when it dries. Keep this in mind as it could end up ruining your entire sofa just to remove a small stain. Once you have the leather washed, take a dry highly absorbent towel and pat the moisture from the leather. This will help ensure that it dries evenly and does not pull the leather taunt.

If you are looking to get that extra shine after cleaning the leather, there are numerous kits available online to help you polish up that older leather and make it shine like new. They are fairly inexpensive and can greatly increase the look of your leather sofa and chairs with very little time put into the polishing aspect. Once you have all of this done, it is time to sit back and watch them get dirty again.
