Water Heaters Can Break at the Most Inconvenient Times

Being able to take a hot shower or warm bath is something that is a nice luxury for you. Yet, when water heaters go out or breakdown, you’re in for a rude awakening. Find out how you can deal with the matter.

It doesn’t matter if your unit is brand new or has a few years on it, water heaters can break. And when they do, you want to get them fixed as soon as absolutely possible. However, for some, the process can take much longer than expected and you’ll have to figure out how you’re going to get through a few days without hot or warm baths or showers. Examine a few options you can try.

Go to a friend’s house
No one wants to bother a friend in the middle of the night. However, if you’ve ever had water heaters break, you know what a hassle it can be to deal with the loss of hot shower. And depending on your situation, you may need a hot shower at an odd time of day, or night. If you cannot get your unit looked at fast, then you’ll need to call a close friend and see if you can borrow their tub or shower. It may be awkward, but if you cannot stand cold showers, you may want to go ahead and call that friend.

Check into a hotel
If bugging a friend is not something you’d do, then maybe you can check into a hotel for a few days until your unit is fixed. Water heaters aren’t supposed to just break down. Yet, if you didn’t have it installed correctly, never had any maintenance or simply have a unit that is decades old, then yes, you will have trouble with it at some point. Also, depending on who installed your unit, you may not be able to get anyone out to your home at a decent time. Until then, it may be a good idea to check you and your family into a hotel.

Boil water
When deciding to clean yourself, you may have to give up the luxury of showers for baths. This way, you can run some cold water in the tub, and then fill the rest with hot liquid you get from your stove. It may be a little tedious to carry pots from the kitchen to the bathroom, but it sure beats dealing with cold. And if you’re quick about washing yourself, you can be in and out the tub in no time.

Take cold showers
Okay, for those people that are willing to take a chance and hop in a cold shower, then that may be the easiest thing to do while you’re waiting to get your water heaters to get repaired or replaced. It may be a shock to your system when that coldness hits your body, but it will make you take the fastest shower you’ve ever taken and therefore save you money on your bill.
