Step 1
The first step in water damage restoration will always be preparation. If you find that the surface is still wet or damp, you'll need to dry it using a soft towel. Step 2

Step 5
Once the area has dried thoroughly, the surface should be treated with a fine-grit sandpaper. Make sure to use a finer grit to buff and smooth the surface area.

Add a light oil-based primer coat. Let the area dry again for a few hours.

Depending on how you want the finished product to look, you may decide to apply a coat of wood finish or paint. The surface should be finished in a way that makes that damages aspects of the material blend in with the wood surrounding it. 

Step 8
