Halloween is one of the most creative times of the year for
the nerds of the world. In college dormitories, comic conventions, and

Geeks of little imagination may decide to dress as their favorite old-school
video game character, such as Mario, Link, or Pac-Man. The more discerning may
opt for a beast or creature from Dungeons and Dragons or Magic: The Gathering.
While these options are not bad, gamer-geek costumes are heavily frowned-upon
by geek purists.
Geek purists may instead choose to depict a mathematical theme with friends,
such as wearing t-shirts with numbers printed on them. When they line up in the
correct order, they could be prime numbers, pi, or Einstein's famous mass-energy
equivalence formula.
Overly-inventive geeks may decide to go all out and create intricate costumes
of various the gadgets, from iPods to Blackberries. Give a creative geek a
refrigerator box, a roll of duct tape, and some markers, and they will be entering
the room sideways as the latest hand-held device. Old-school geeks might also
employ this tactic, arriving as a Tandy2000 or antique Compaq.
No matter what a geek decides to wear for Halloween, you can be sure he or she
will not be vying for the vampire fangs or Elvira wigs. Geeks are loyal to
their loves, those being technology, games, and mathematics. Of course, there
will always been the geek at every party who dressed up as a can of Mountain
Dew, preferred drink of geeks everywhere!
