Build a Professional Website

Building a professional looking website is much easier than you think.  With today's blogging platforms, you can build a professional website within hours instead of days or weeks.

My first website installation was a free website.  It was very simple to create.  It looked like a third grade child's poster.  Can you relate to that?  Would you like to compete with the pros? You can.

Using today's Web2.0 Technologies, creating and installing a professional looking website or web page are relatively simple.  Software developers and bloggers jumped on the bandwagon in the early years of this century and a host of free website building tools was born.

A Web 2.0 site is simply a site that lets you interact others.  Some of the most commonly known Web 2.0 website building platforms are Blogger.com, TypePad.com, and WordPress.com.

However, because free websites are usually hosted on a provider's hosting service, control of the content is often restricted and limited.  Still, building your own professional looking website is very achievable. Here are three ways to build quality professional website.

·         The most obvious is to pay someone to create a professional looking website.

·         You can create a site from scratch using HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets).

·         You can create a quality website yourself using free software.

Let's assume that you have neither the money nor the time to implement the first two options.

This short article focuses on free and easy website building with Word Press.  It is free.  Download a copy from http://wordpress.org.  Do not confuse wordpress.com with wordpress.org.  The dot com version is a hosted version and limits your control of the content.  There are tutorials available at Word Press to help with the installation of the software as well as many tutorials on the Internet.  There are also video tutorials available on YouTube.

Once installed, the Word Press dashboard will guide you through a selection process.  You can select various themes to add personality and professionalism to your website.  You can add plug-ins to add utility to your website.  Within a short time, a couple of hours at the most, if this is your first site, you will have created your first professional looking website.

Although Word Press is easy to install and manage, if you are not confident with computer terminology and website design, it can seem overwhelming.  However, not as overwhelming as learning HTML and CSS would be.  As mentioned before, there are many free video and text tutorials available on the Internet.  They are not in any one place.  You may have to do some searching to find the one you need.

There are also coaching programs available that will teach and guide you through all the processes needed to build a professional looking site within hoursFree Reprint Articles, not days or weeks.
