Be Wary of Claims

These companies lay groundwork of deceit. One tactic is the use of testimonials. Hired writers, not actual employees, compose glowing content about the company paying surveys.  Documented proof, such as a copy of a pay check with a large sum, can be the result of today’s technology to mimic checks or an outstanding pay week that will never happen again. Thirdly, the company will “guarantee” you the amount of your pay checks; for example, they will claim that you can make $100 - $300 per week. This is just a statement by the company that does not guarantee this level of earnings.

Conduct Research

A primary way to avoid scams involving companies paying surveys is to do a little detective work. The first organization to contact is the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to see whether the company in question has any complaints filed against them. Remember that just because BBB has no complaints, that is not a total reassurance of a company’s integrity.  Some people do not think it is worth the time and trouble to alert BBB. Also, make sure that you find out if survey site owns other survey sites. This is because you may pay for two survey lists only to find that the survey sites are the same albeit with a different name.  You pay twice, but actually receive on duplicate list. 

An indicator of a company that is less than stellar is a shoddy website. The website is your link to the company so if there is not a good system of communication, then you will not be able to reach them when you have questions. Is there a contact number or email?  Do you receive prompt responses? These are things to check out before working for a company. 

Browse Message Boards

Another way to research, somewhat more informally, is to browse scam forums.  Consumers will post message about their experiences with companies. Comments are given from the positive to actions from companies that misled, duped or miss-communicated to consumers. One important caveat regarding scam forums is that occasionally a representative of one of the dubious companies paying surveys will leave untrue postings.  They will post a negative comment about a competitor and/or give their company a positive report. Moderators of the website will take out fraudulent comments, but sometimes it is not done immediately. 

Set Up a Separate Account

Open up a separate email account just for surveys. This is a distinct email address just for the purposes of working of companies paying surveys. A separate account is also for safety and security reasons. This will keep you organized as well as focused. Am email account dedicated to receiving surveys will be easier for you to track.
