Internet TV: Carving A Place In Our TV Viewing Habits

In the old days, we all had those silly antennas. Yes, that is how I like to start my articles these days with a random sentence that gets your attention. So, in the old days we all had those idiot antennas and then we got cable and now Internet TV.

Are you frustrated that you just do not have time to watch your favorite TV show? Worry no more because one of the advantages of an internet connection is having the time to watch TV upon demand. This is what Internet TV is all about.

Watch shows anytime, anywhere; TV networks definitely know how to utilize the internet to its optimum capacity. One of this is the idea that viewers can now watch any of their favorite shows either archived or through live stream from their PC. With this feature, you have access even up to the very first season of any show of every TV network. That's why this system is aptly called "catch up" TV.

Internet TV is absolutely a win-win situation for both the viewer and the network because the viewer can watch any of the shows online at anytime thus taking away the feeling of frustration from missing favorite TV series. Television networks also benefit from this because this means ratings for their shows and high ratings mean additional income.

Net TV versus ordinary broadcast
There is a difference between watching TV online as compared with watching it on ordinary television. For one thing, the viewer has the power of choice with net TV like being able to watch older seasons to "catch up" with the latest releases. This cannot be done with ordinary broadcast because you can never go back and search for old telecasts. With ordinary broadcast, the only way for you to see a show you missed is to record and watch later. The problem with recording is that you only get to store as far your device can hold. Moreover, you can only record shows from one channel because you have to manually change the channel if your other favorite show is with another TV network.

Really gaining popularity
Internet and television is a truly a powerful combination. The two greatest innovations of their time joining forces to give viewers more fun while watching shows. Versatility and the power of choice is one of the biggest reasons why Internet TV is slowly gaining popularity. Although traditional TV is forever embed in our lifestyle, watching shows online is also set to carve its place in the viewers TV watching habits.

Watch free or pay premium
Pretty much like ordinary broadcast where watching television shows are free while premium TV show through cable broadcast asks for a monthly subscription fee, online viewing also operates on the same principle. There is some TV streaming which allows free viewing but a subscription is also required for premium shows.

Signal quality
Just like the difference between an ordinary antenna and a satellite dishFree Web Content, one very important factor to get total enjoyment when watching TV online is the speed of your internet connection. A slow connection just cannot keep up with the bulk of data that online TV transmits so it is almost impossible to view anything. To achieve the best quality of Internet TV you have to make sure that your PC has quality hardware and software and your internet connection is really fast (with 5Mbps or more giving the clearest images) to make TV viewing online possible and pleasurable.
