Twenty first century is witnessing a rapid inflow of technology and that too in different versions available every day. People have gone to the extent of following the technology which helps them establish link with their acquaintances with an ultrasonic speed. Emailing is superb at linking us with the world. But sometimes these mechanic methods can create real havocs in our lives. This article is solely dedicated to the Security issues of a Gmail account and will deal with the role password plays in this regard.

As for mails to be received properly it requires an address likewise Gmail account is operator specific and its security is of utmost importance. Password is the key to the lock of one’ account. If supposedly it is leaked under some unknown conditions, it leads to a dangerous situation where somebody gets the access of one’s account which is technically called ”hacked account” and manipulation of the details occur .

Under mentioned are some of the precautions and ways with which the account can be shielded, keeping in mind the password importance:

  • First and foremost is never share the password with anyone, no matter how compelling the situation is.
  • Never keep a simple and decipherable password which can be easily cracked. Rather following a uniform fabrication, use a mix of alphabets, numbers, symbols, etc.
  • Do not follow the foreign links sent through emails and input the password there, as it might be a foul play which otherwise is called “phishing”.
  • Keep on changing the password every 3 to 4 months.
  • Refrain from the habit of setting same passwords with sequential endings.
  • Design an unbreakable lengthy password.
  • Make use of some excellent password applications such as Rob form, Last Pass Password Manager, etc to secure one’s information .Avail these applications if one does not want to rely upon the inbuilt Password Manager.
  • One must logout properly for the security sake.
  • Avoid using names or words which are common as with the “brute force” attack it can be attacked.
  • The passwords should not be made to remember by the Internet Explorer.
  • A password must not carry dates, events, places which are important to the user.
  • Never write down the password and place it in the system’s vicinity or easily discoverable Areas. 

Probable Solution

In coming days, the email clients are planning to release an OTP type system which can be witnessed under net banking. The experiment is not yet confirmed but it’s under trial. But, if something of the type comes the cyber crimes could be ceased if not completely then partially.
