Way #1 – Maintain Good Communication With Your Spouse.  Unfortunately a lot of couples in their marriage with there being a total and complete breakdown between the two of them.  When this breakdown occurs, the husband and the wife have little choice but to ‘lawyer up’ in order to resolve the major issues.  In your case, you and your spouse have good communication between you and you are going to do everything in your power to make sure that it stays that way right? (at this point in time you should be shaking your head up and down in agreement).  All that being said, do not misinterpret what is being explained, ‘good communication’ does not necessarily mean ‘friendship’.  You and your spouse do not have to be ‘friends’.  You just have to have good enough communication between you that you are able to resolve each one of the major issues.

Way #2 – Mediate Before Hiring An Attorney.  A divorce mediator costs $300.00 where as a divorce attorney costs $3000.00.  It is much better for you and your spouse to start cheap and then, only as a last resort, choose the expensive option of divorce attorney representation.

Way #3 – Use Divorce Paperwork.  There are a lot of divorce paperwork services that are in existence.  Buyer beware, must of the divorce paperwork services sell a product that is trash.  Steer clear of those services.  That being said, there are a lot of reputable divorce paperwork services out there, you just have to do your research in order to find one.  Assuming that you and your spouse have good communication between you and assuming that you and your spouse are able to reach 100% agreement on each one of the major issues, then divorce paperwork is the correct choice for you.

Way #4 – Do Not Hire The Most Expensive Divorce Attorney In Town Just Because They Are Expensive.  There are a lot of people who use the ‘Lexus’ approach when shopping for a divorce attorney.  What we mean when we way ‘Lexus’ approach is that a lot of people will pay $30,000.00 for a Lexus when they can buy a comparable Toyota for half the price.  When it is time for you to shop for a divorce attorney, you will encounter a handful of attorneys who will quote you $10,000.00 or higher.   Take our advice, unless your last name is Walton, Rockefeller, or Kennedy, a divorce attorney who quotes a price of $2000.00 to $5000.00 will be sufficient for your case.
