Remember that when you get to court, it is not you against the officer.  It is you against the evidence that the officer obtained to give you the speeding ticket.  The judge is already predisposed to trust the policeman.  This doesn’t mean that you are bad, it is just that the judge knows nothing about you.  In order to present yourself as more credible to beat a speeding ticket, you will want to have notes on every aspect of the incident.  You want to write down where the incident took place, what time it was, what the weather was like, where the policeman was located when you were clocked, and if there were any cars around you while you were driving.  You also want to pay attention to any posted signs and notice if they are blocked or missing.

#2   Immediately Request an Extension

The moment you get home, you are going to want to file an extension from the courts.  It is a simple form to fill out.  When you go to court, the policeman will usually have all his cases on a single day so he is not running back and forth to court.  A simple way to beat a speeding ticket is if the officer does not show up for court, your ticket will be dismissed.  When you ask for an extension, there is the possibility that the officer will not be able to show up.  Your ticket will be dismissed and you won’t have to pay the fees or see more points on your record.

You can request to examine the equipment that was used to clock your speed.  If it is not produced, your ticket will be dismissed.  Also ask for the service records that go along with that machine.  They are supposed to serviced and re-calibrated every few months.  Again, if they are out of complianceFeature Articles, you can beat your speeding ticket.
