The open US Senate Campaign  is heating up with a closely fought three-way battle underway in the South Dakota seat. Although there are many issues on the table in the run-up to the 2014 midterm elections,US Senate South Dakota Election going In Favor Of Independent Candidate Articles the focus is surely on the Abscam scandal of 1970. There was a tough fight going on between the Republican candidate and former governor Mike Rounds, Democrat Rick Weiland and Larry Pressler who is running as an independent candidate. But the recent Survey USA's Final pre-election tracking poll surely indicates that Larry has the potential to emerge as a winner.

Before the general elections that takes place on November 4, 2014, there has been a lot of issues racked up by each candidate. Mike Rounds who was the most preferential candidate in the early stages was weakened by a convoluted scandal involving a beef plant. His situation was further weakened after the suicide of a cabinet member. On the other hand Democrat Rick Weiland was unable to gain any traction after Rounds lost ground. The endorsement by Centrist Project surely has made Pressler a viable choice and helped him turn the tide towards himself. In addition to that the Abscam scandal has added leverage to Pressler after retired FBI agent John Good openly endorsed him for the South Dakota Seat.

There were many analysts who were of the view that the waning popularity of Mike Rounds would surely help Rick Weiland to come to the forefront, but the negative ads run by the National Democratic party ended up boosting the independent candidate. The tension between Rick and his party was openly evident as he went on the record to say that the stance taken by his party clearly indicates that even believe that Larry Pressler has a better chance of winning than he did.

The seat of South Dakota is highly vital as it is one of 11 competitive seats which would eventually determine which party controls the Senate. With just a week left for elections it is all about factoring in various issues that would turn into votes.
