There's a booth to set up, products to remember, people to greet and a number of other tasks that are necessary to create a successful event. Wear Comfortable Shoes And Clothing When Working Trade Show Booths

You'll likely be on your feet for eight to twelve hours straight. This is not the time to try out those uncomfortable heels or dress shoes. While you want to look professional, it's okay to wear clothing that doesn't hinder your movement or pinch your feet. Sensible, flat shoes are best and can be made even more comfortable by placing a cushioned insert inside.

Take Care Of Yourself

Many people forget to take breaks while they're working trade show booths. Taking a break rejuvenates employees and should be considered a must. Remember to schedule lunch breaks and have a small cooler with water or other drinks at your display, if it's allowed by the venue. Being able to take a short break can do wonders for your energy levels, so don't just send one employee out to grab lunch and bring something back for everyone. Allowing everyone to get off the sales floor for 30 minutes is a wise idea.

Also, if you're in a new exciting city, resist the temptation to go out and party the night before. It's okay to have a little fun, but being out until 3 a.m. will only mean you're exhausted and cranky the next day. You're there to create connections and sales - save the partying for another trip.

Plan, plan, plan. While it's unreasonable to think that you can plan for every type of emergency, having a basic 'emergency kit' is a great idea. Things like a needle and thread for a misplaced button, bandages and antibiotic ointment, batteries, extra light bulbs, extension cords and duct tape are all good things to put in your toolbox.

Network With Neighbors Near Your Trade Show Exhibits

You'll be near the same companies for the entire event, so it's not a bad idea to get to know them. Whether they're competition or just a neighbor, introduce yourself at the beginning of the day. Offer to share what's in your emergency kit or a bottle of water if it's needed. If you're kind, they'll be more likely to send people over to see your trade show booths and more amenable to turning down their volume if you find that it's carrying over to your own trade show displays.

While these tips may seem simple, they'll go a long way towards helping you staff successful booths. Share these tips with new employees before you get to the venue so everyone knows what to expect and how to act.
