Promotional Items For the Whole Family

Promotional items are great tools for marketing your brand, but there are some very effective ways of using them that a lot of companies overlook.

The basic idea is that you give somebody something for free, they form a positive association between the free gift and your company, and they buy your products? Sounds simple, right? Well, there are a lot of wrong ways of doing it, and there are also ways of getting a lot more “bang for your buck” when you use promotional gifts to market your brand.

One of the best ways of getting the biggest possible return on your marketing investment is to pick promotional items that will be used by the whole family. If your product is, for example, a food item or a line of consumables you will be creating a subconscious desire for your products in an entire family. If you are marketing something that only working adults might be interested in (insurance, for example) then you will be able to target at least two people by giving out only one item. This is double the exposure for the same amount of money spent!

Items that are great to give out to the whole family as promotional items are anything that is used as a family. Anything to do with the beach – umbrellas, beach balls, ball and bat sets, sunscreen, towels or peak caps are great to hand out to the whole family. If you give kids something that will keep them occupied for an hour, the parents of those children will be eternally grateful! Keep an eye out for inexpensive but innovative ideas for promotional items to hand out at the beach.

Board games, sets of mugs or a food basket are also things that can be used and enjoyed by the whole family. Food baskets have been known to be extremely effective in bringing in new business and impressing potential clients, but you have to choose your ingredients right! The advantage of these types of promotional items is that they give you the opportunity to insert a promotional recipe book and other literature inside the gift package. Once the food is gone, this gives the family something to hang on to that still bears your logo.

The advantages of targeting potential customers on a family level are obvious. Not only do you get your message out to a lot of people with a single gift and create a demand in the children (which is a powerful motivating factor for adults to buy), but you also create the impression that your company holds family values high. Having a good history of promoting family values will bring in far more business than even the most ingenious television commercial. Remember, the best advertising is word of mouth. If you give out promotional items to a family and they are impressed with your gift, they will be sure to tell their friends about your company and the gifts they received from you.
