Orange County Photographer Offers Tip: Make Workflow Process More Efficient

The photography industry is competitive. In order to compete effectively and increase their bottom line, portrait photographers, wedding photographers, newborn photographers and senior photographers should all increase their workflow. 

This article gives some tips on how to create an efficient workflow.

1. In order to focus your work you need to have a good idea what the client wants. Show your clients the product they can purchase before hand. Have them choose two or three products that they really like. This will allow you to perform your work with their desires and just as importantly, their purchasing preferences in mind.

 2. Plan before you begin to photograph. Talk with the seniors or other clients about the product they have said they have wanted. Explain how many outfits would work well for each product that they like. Explain the colors that would work well with the products they have chosen. By talking this through with the client, you will know specifically which pictures you will be using for each product.

3. After you have taken the pictures, upload them to your computer in lightroom.

4. Select the images you want to work with. Typically you want to end up with between 30 and 40 images. You don’t want to overwhelm your client. Having an overwhelmed client can actually decrease the number of sales you are able to obtain. Less money after performing more work editing more images is not the standard for which you are looking – so edit fewer images. 5. Further filter your images in lightroom. Select the images that are similar. Compare the images. Delete the ones that are not the very best.

6. Create categories based on the products you have selected.

8. Complete your sales presentation.

Having an efficient method will help you increase your bottom line. It will help your lifestyle since you won’t need to work as many hours and it will help your clients have greater confidence in you as they see you hit deadlines and have rapid turn around times.
