Your wedding is a big day; perhaps the biggest day of your life. It is natural that you want to get everything just right for the day, so, below; we provide ten essential tips for a great wedding day.
The Venue
Some people like to book their wedding in the town or village where they live.
For others, it is more important that it is held somewhere relevant to them.
This could be anything from a romantic beach setting to a football pitch.
Remember, it is your wedding and you should have the final say. Don’t forget to
book somewhere nice for the reception too.
Guest List
This can be a tricky one. Of course, there will be people who you want to
invite, and they will be first on the list. However, we all know people that we
feel we should invite but don’t particularly want to. Bear in mind the size of
the venue and the balance of guests on both the bride and groom’s side. Good

Bridesmaids
Make sure that the bridesmaids are booked well in advance, and have people in
mind as backups, should anyone have to drop out. Although it is your wedding,
try to involve the bridesmaids in decisions such as their dresses. You really
don’t want grumpy looking bridesmaids at your wedding.
Flowers
Some venues may automatically provide these; however, they may not be to your
taste. Depending on your budget, you might like to consider hiring someone to
plan this for you. Don’t forget to give them guidelines though; you will want
the venue to look like it is hosting a wedding, not a funeral.
The Dress
Perhaps the most focussed on aspect of a wedding. Remember that for many years
to come there will be photographs on your wall, and on your relatives wall
perhaps, of you in your wedding dress. Bear this in mind when choosing your
dress. What may look contemporary today may look incredibly silly in years to
come. Of course, it all comes down to individual taste, but a classic look may
be a good starting point to work from.
Music
Choosing the right music for your wedding does depend on your own individual
taste. Most people still walk down the aisle to the traditional wedding song,
but this doesn’t mean that you have to. Bear in mind though, that if the venue
is a church, they may not appreciate you walking down the aisle to heavy metal
or punk music, so make sure that you discuss this with the venue when booking.
Reception
Although speeches seem to be obligatory at wedding receptions; try to keep
these short and move on to the fun part of the day as soon as possible. Make sure
that you book a band or disco that you know will get people up on their feet
and dancing.
The Cake
Everyone loves a bit of wedding cake don’t they? Well, actually, most people
very quickly forget what it actually tasted like, but there is little doubt
that an attractive cake can create quite an impression and will remain on your
wedding day photographs for many years to come. It is, therefore, well worth
putting some thought into the design of the cake, and how it is decorated.
The Exit
Yes, your wedding day will eventually end and it’s nice to make your exit in
style. This could be by limousine, horse and carriage, or even on the back of a
Harley Davidson motorbike. You will need to choose something that suits your
style, but anything is better than hanging around waiting for a taxi that is
late.
The Photographer
In many ways, the photographer is the most important person at the wedding,
apart from the bride and groom of course. Your wedding will be over soon, but
the photographs will enable you to relive the day for the rest of your life.
