But customers will understand right away if you're just trying to "sell" them something, and that you care about the bottom line more than you care about them. That'll make them run the other way. So, strive to be a resource for your customers and prospective customers, and to truly help them solve a problem or achieve what they want to achieve. Make it about the money second, and about customers first. * Make yourself an expert When you make yourself an expert with your particular niche, people are going to see your name and know to come to you for advice and expertise. You can give that freely, through a blog or website; becoming an expert also gives you another advantage. When you're seen as an expert, people are going to also trust the products or services you sell. That, in turn, will make them more likely to buy from you. So make yourself an expert and make yourself trustworthy, and watch your products simply sell themselves. * Make sure you are visible In order to have people know about you and your product or service (as well as your expertise and any advice you can give), you need to make yourself visible. So, use a blog (preferably named something that applies either to your product or service, or uses your given name) and post to it regularly, so that the search engines are "pinged" on a regular basis. This will increase your ranking. Use social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook to network with like-minded people and provide a means to communicate with customers or prospective customers in a timely basis.
