How to Fight the Winter Blues by being SocialLearn some facts that show you how you can fight the Winter Blues by simply getting out and being Social I hear folks grumble in the summer about the heat and sweating, and in the winter I hear these same folks talking about the cold and over eating. It's like anything really, some folks tend to stay pretty happy all year around, while others tend to be sad and depressed all year around, life is how you make it, and how you react to situations that happen, no matter how tragic they are. Now, I better stop rambling here, because I am probably starting to sound like a therapist and I am getting off the topic of this article, which is fighting the winter blues by being social. Now, I want to mention that I am not into the bar scene at all, in fact I dislike the atmosphere very much. I rarely drink alcohol, for instance in 2010, I had one bottle of beer and that's the only alcohol I have had. I do not buy any alcohol to keep at home either, the same for smoking, in fact I hate even the smell of smoke and it puzzles me why folks would want to inhale something that is poisonous. The winter blues comes about from staying shut in a lot during the winter months, so you have to break this habit. I live alone, in fact most of my adult life I have spent alone. I go to the movies, and out to a restaurant often, and almost all of the time I go by myself and I love it. So if your alone that is no excuse for not being social, because I am alone too. I break up my whole day by doing one simple social activity. In the morning I go to a local convenience store, one that sells food products and gasoline. They have a few booth's inside for customers to sit and relax. I buy a local newspaper or two, and a cup of coffee, and head towards any booth that is empty. I just relax, drink my coffee and read the newspapers. Then when I have the newspapers read and am done drinking my coffee, I head back home. I notice that just getting out for a 20 minutes or so a day makes me feel so much better. When your home during the winter and you feel the blues closing in, head to a store or some other location where you can be around other people for awhile, it will brighten your whole day and you may find it's a simple but great way to help fight against the winter blues.
