Students with the fear of ragging by their seniors find it hard to escape from stubborn activities forced on them by seniors. Thus, before entering any college it is necessary for students to know their rights on ragging. Latest news India came about ragging, where victims from West Bengal sought assistance from the police, but were routed to officials who were of no help. Harassment of freshers by their seniors in colleges has been reported by students for brutally abusing in many educational institutions. Every year in latest India news, millions of cases against ragging are reported where these students are physically, mentally and often sexually abused. According to the UGC Regulations on restricting the threat of ragging in higher educational institutions several rules have been defined. Here are a few points that every student must know prior to taking admission into colleges.Activities that are to be called as Ragging:  1. Activity conducted by any student or group of students, which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness either by words spoken or written or by an act is stated as ragging.2. Any student or group of students found in raucous or disruptive activities, which causes irritation, adversity, physical or psychological effect thereof in any fresher or any other student comes under ragging.3. Any activity forced on student, which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student.4. Acts forced by a senior student that thwart, upsets or concern the regular academic activity of any other student or a fresher is ragging.5. Those senior students found indulged in taking advantage of the services of a fresher for completing their academic tasks are liable for ragging.7. Not only with activities but also financial extortion or forceful expenditure by senior students on any fresher is legally punishable. 8. Sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, forcing obscene and lewd acts, gestures, causing bodily harm or any other physical or mental assault that leads to danger to health of student.9. Sending mails, posts or publically insulting any student for tainted pleasure, explicit or vicious thrill that raises embarrassment among fresher or any other student comes under cases of ragging.10. Acts that affect the self-confidence of any fresher or showing off power, authority or superiority by seniors.
