The problem for most women is that they do not realize just how much power they really have. Thinking about the worst, they live in fear with situations which have never happened to them, and they are unprepared for the situations when it does happen. Here are five self-defense tips that every woman should know to avoid such situations.

1. Don't live in fear.

You have every right to live the way you choose. Avoiding trouble can often be as simple as some attitude adjustments. If you live in fear, you can be sending the wrong signals and attract unwanted situations. Most aggressors choose their victims based on ease of opportunity, they tend to stay away from strong and self-assured women.

2. Be observant of your environment.

When you are in public places, pay attention to your surroundings. Be observant of the people around you, particularly those who may be looking your way too many times. If you have a bad vibe from someone, chances are there is good reason. Make sure that you observe and evaluate your surroundings at all times.

3. Avoid potentially dangerous situations.

Common sense can keep you out of a lot of troubles. If the laundromat is on the rough side of town, and it is late at night, then simply choose another time to do your laundry. There are many choices out there for discerning women to do as she pleases while also remaining safe.

4. Be aggressive.

If you are faced with an assault, don't lose the urge to fight back. Scream, kick and claw. When your life is on the line, it's okay to let loose. Make as much noise as you can while targeting the assailantsí vulnerable spots, and you just have to buy yourself enough time to escape or at least for help to arrive.

5. Travel with friends.

Assailants generally prefer victims of opportunity. They do not want to mess with anyone they think might give them trouble. If you travel with friends, you are far less likely to become a victim. You also get to benefit from good companionship and camaraderie with your friends.
