It can trap and remove debris as small as 10 to 15 microns in diameter. The cartridge element can be cleaned easily by removing it and running water through it in reverse direction under pressure with a garden hose.

Diatomaceous Earth (D.E) filters: Hayward provides a wide range of Diatomaceous Earth (D.E) filters to pool owners. The range on offer includes products like Perflex® - Extended-Cycle, Pro-Grid™ - Vertical Grid and Vertical Grid Filter Accessories.

D.E. filters contain a special kind of powdered earth that has microscopic sponge-like openings in it. It can remove particles as small as 10 to 15 microns in diameter, including dust and algae. The filter can be cleaned by running water through it in reverse direction. After some months of usage, the earth in the filter should be discarded and new earth should be put into it to ensure peak performance.
