History of church furnitureAs we all know that the Christians believe in Prophet Isa (A.S), and they used to worship him. They name the place where they worship as church. Latter in 13th century there were benches that have no back and they were present against the walls. They were made up of stones. They were not fixed to the floor at first and they were present in the semi circle placement. Pews were introduced in 14th century , but they were not much popular until 15th century. Stones seats were replaced with the wooden benches that have back. In this period the invention of pulpit was take place in the church furniture. Changes were being made so that the people use the church pews to focus on the pulpit. The prayer was performed in a formal way. People just have to sit and listen to the recites. People did not have Bibles of their own. For the Christians pews are almost opposite of how they set their culture to be in worship. They give the people opportunity to worship of their own will.
