He is credited with revitalising the luxury Swiss watch brand by focusing on price and style and its timepieces are now produced in the Vallee de Joux un Switzerland and have been since 1976.  Breguet is a pioneer in numerous watch-making technologies and is also one of the oldest surviving watch-making establishments.  One of their most famous and pioneering technologies is the tourbillion which was invented by Abraham Louis Breguet.Breguet watches have easily recognisable features such as their coin edge cases, blue pomme hands (referred to as Breguet hands) and their guilloche dials.  Abraham Louis Breguet is considered to be a watch making genius and the history of horology would be completely different if it were not for him.  His best known inventions are the Breguet spiral which is found today in every quality watch.  Another notable invention was the tourbillion and also the whirlwind which is an ingenious device that was invented to compensate for gravity influences on a balance spring in pocket watches.Breguet also made what we consider today to be the first Grande Complication in the history of the horology.  It was the watch known as the Marie Antoinette.  This watch was commissioned by the Queen’s guard Monsieur de la Croizette.  He ordered that the watch should contain all known complications and also the greatest number of parts made from gold.  There was no time limit on making the watch and also no restrictions on the price.  Unfortunately the watch was only completed in 1827 which meant that neither Marie Antoinette (guillotined in 1793), or the watch maker himself (Breguet died in 1823) got to see the completed watch.  The Marie Antoinette watch was a self-winding watch with a perpetual calendar, minute repeater and equation of time indication.  It was stolen from the Jerusalem Institute of Islamic Art in 1983 and has not been seen since.Breguet produce both men and women's watches. Today, Breguet still make each watch as a model of supreme horological art and its inventions have left an indelible print on watch making history.  A Breguet watch is a unique watch and it comes to you carrying the name of Abraham-Lois Breguet, the greatest watchmaker ever known. You can recognize a Breguet watch by the legendary Breguet hands, the shimmering guilloche dial, and the finely fluted case band that give your Breguet its strong character. Most importantly it will have a hand-finished movement, as inventive today as two hundred years ago. Wear your Breguet watch with pride as you have definitely chosen an exceptional watch.
