Beagle owners definitely know how important Beagle training is. Apart from feeding and grooming, Beagle training is one of the most important tasks that must be done to fulfill every owner's dream of having an obedient pet.

It is not impossible to train a beagle, or any breed in general, knowing that there are a lot of help an owner can get when it comes to training. The web is jam-packed with various training tips and suggestions to make Beagle training easy. There are also a lot of books, dog training courses and advice from friends, breed club or from your local veterinarian.

As much as training is concern, there are also various reasons or objectives why training is necessary. These scent hounds may be trained to:

- obey basic commands
- track hare, rabbit and other game through scenting (beagling)
- detect explosives, prohibited agricultural imports and foodstuffs
- follow agility commands

But before any training advancement, it is very important that beagles, or dogs of any breed, are house broken. Who wants to see a pile of poop under the bed? Or discoloration on the rug? Who wants to arrive to a stinking house? Nobody right? House breaking, therefore, must be successfully accomplished. In order to achieve positive result in Beagle training, owners must remember these things:

- A puppy cannot control the muscle that allows him to hold the thing; therefore, he must be taken out around six times a day:
 - first thing in the morning
 - after eating and drinking
 - after playtime periods
 - when he is nervous or scared
 - before bedtime at night

- Read the signs. When you see your pup circling or sniffing around, pick him up and take him outside immediately. This tip is helpful only to owners who work in their homes, retired persons or anybody who stays home most of the time to watch the pup and prevent the occurrence of mistakes.

- When you need to leave the house and there is no one to watch him, place him in a pen, crate or room with toys. You can even leave the music playing so as he won't feel alone. But remember not to leave him out too long. He must be taken outside to do his thing.

- Never punish your dog. Rubbing your pup's nose in his mess or spanking his rear with rolled paper will not make him understand his mistake. Physical punishment will just cause more behavior problems. You do not want your dog to be afraid of you, right?

- Clean the accident spot immediately. There should be no trace of dirt, even scent in the area or else the dog will do it again in that same spot.

- Praise or give him reward for every good behavior. This will help motivate your pet to do the right thing again.
