Know your dog.

Know that weimaraners are prone to bloat and gastric tortion. Feeding three to four small meals a day can can prevent this health issue from happening. Doing vigorous exercise should also be prevented approximately one hour before or after meals.

Exercise.
These hunting dogs need extensive exercise to keep up with their physical endurance and stamina. Walk or run your weimaraner at least once or twice a day and give plenty of time off leash. Just remember not to exercise your pet before or after eating to prevent the occurrence of bloat.

Training.
Early and proper socialization is important to this breed. Children as well as other dogs and animals should be socialized early on to prevent aggressive behavior among weimaraners.

It is also important to train puppies to obey comamnds such as sit, stay, come and down to prevent jumping in the future since these dogs can knock elederly people or children by accident.
