Choosing Toys For Your Standard Poodle

Dog toys come in various types, sizes and colors. Choose toys that are appropriate for you dog...

Any Standard Poodle will definitely enjoy having a lot of toys to play with. Toys come in all shapes, sizes and materials, that is why choosing the right one can be a challenging task especially if you are not aware of what is good and safe for your beloved Standard Poodle. Before you go out to hunt for that perfect toy to make Fido happy, consider the factors below:

Size. The size of the dog toy should be appropriate for your dog. It should not be too small for your dog to swallow and get caught in the dog's throat. On the other hand, toys created for large breeds may be difficult for a small dogs to handle.

Durability. Toys made of very hard rubber are usually recommended by experts for they can withstand chewing and retrieving and last a long time. Examples are kong type products and rubber balls. There are some kong toys that have holes in them wherein you can put dog treats in. This type of toy is ideal to keep your pet entertained and busy removing the treats inside.

Safety. Safety should come first above anything else. Make sure that the toy is safe and well constructed. Never choose a toy that is easily broken or splinter. The broken pieces might accidentally swallowed by your dog and get caught in the dog's throat. Stuffed toys may have loose bits of string, fabric or stuffing that can easily be ingested and cause life-threatening intestinal blockage.

Easy to clean. Dogs toys that are easy to wash are highly recommended.

Fun and Entertaining. After the above considerations, it is equally important that dog toys can entertain and give a lot of fun to your dog. After all, that is what dog toys are for - for your dog's enjoyment!

Even if you have chosen the appropriate toy for your dog, bear in mind to always supervise playtime. From time to timeHealth Fitness Articles, check the toys for wear or damage. Replace them if they are starting to fall apart. Have different types of toys available and rotate them to keep your four-legged friend interested. Have a happy playtime!
