Link building is a time consuming task that many website owners are reluctant to, or, do not have time to do properly. Do there sites suffer as a result? Yes and No! The truth is that any site will benefit from more links pointing to it, but for most websites it is more vital than beneficial.

Search engine optimization involves a number of different aspects,Why is Link Building So Important? Articles but one cannot overlook the fact that it is link building, also called back links, that is deemed the most important. Link building is the process of finding good websites that will publish links to your site.

A good SEO project must involve building back links, but if you haven't the time or the patience then an excellent firm that is offering an affordable link building service should be able to do this unenviable, but massively beneficial, task for you. There are a number of ways to get back links, but as you can probably imagine some will be good, whilst others will be worthless.

The following are some good and bad ways to build links.

Good:

  • Publish your site to web directories and search engines.
  • Find information sites that would be interested in posting links to your site and send them emails. Several of these sites might consist of articles with good links to get more information.
  • Ensure that members of associations and chambers get the right link data to your site. Many Chambers of Commerce post a directory of their member’s sites.
  • Write articles and then submit them to several article directories. There are many directories that will allow subscribers to publish articles, as long as they submit a link to your website as well.

Bad:

  • You should not pay to get links, besides the submission payment to Yahoo Directory.
  • Link farming directories or sites that usually charge a fee of $5 or more in order to publish links. These sites will have a high Google ranking, but will not carry a lot weight when it comes to link building.
  • You should not trade links if you don't believe that they can benefit your visitors. Naturally, you did a lot of work just to get visitors to your site, so it does not make any sense to give them a reason to check out another website.

How to get links?

Believe it or not, this is much easier than you think because you will basically search for them. With the help of Google, Yahoo or MSN, you can look for a string such as; submit link + targeted keyword. As an example, if you have a website that is selling pen inks, then you would enter; submit link + pen inks, into the search box. Keep in mind that you will get a lot reciprocal possibilities in the search results, but you should avoid these and opt for the good opportunities for linking. It is also possible to look for directories for different markets.

When you find good sites and directories for link building, ensure that you maintain a record with submissions and send follow-up requests for links within thirty days in order to check if your record had been approved. Some will send out email to inform you whether or not your link request was accepted or denied...or, if this sound like a lot of work, you can do as mentioned at the start of this article, find yourself an affordable link building service and sit back whilst they do the job for you!
