Identifying And Coping With Your FearsWe all have fears but as the old saying goes there's nothing to fear but fear itself. Learn what you can do to manage your fears and not let them get in the way of your progress. Because of this disorder this person lives on $500 per month social security disability. But if they could just get over this dilemma of being nervous around people they could enjoy a great career at a solid company with a nice benefit package because their only dilemma is the fear of being around people. And these are just friendly co-workers, it's not like this person is stuck in prison with a bunch of murderers and rapists. When you start a new career, there could be some embedded fears. For example, 95% of what you learned in college might not apply to exactly what your job description at work may entail. So you're walking into a new and different environment. Some people thrive on this and look forward to the thrill of the chase, but others let fear stop them before they even begin. I think you need to take a look deep within yourself and realize that it took you years to get to where you are. Are you going to waste all that time for a little fear? Unfortunately some will, but it doesn't have to be this way. Once you discover the nature of your fear you can start working on rationalizing it and discovering effective methods to copy with them. What if it's a boss who has a big ego problem and you can't stand them? You might actually be afraid that you'll come to work the next day and punch them out. Instead of avoiding them, why not try to get to know them better and develop a better relationship with them? Most people cope with things by giving them the least amount of attention as possible, but this may not be the most efficient coping technique. For example when I was a kid I use to cringe when someone drug their finger nails across a chalk board. Then a farmer I new said that if something like this bothers you, to do it over and over until it doesn't, or until you get use to it. Lets use another scenario for this and say your boss is truly bossy and tries to make you feel bad every time you do something minor that doesn't agree with them. The worst solution is to quit, heck you probably have a wife and children to feed as well as possibly a mortgage and car payment. So the answer here is to get use to it and to effectively learn to communicate back with them in a way which doesn't hurt you or them. Remember what doesn't kill you just makes you stronger. If you can't stand someone practice self control and discipline and effective communication techniques. Now if they are trying to hurt your career that's a totally different story. Just maintain yourself and keep your language and actions clean. As an employee you have rights and if something happens in spite of you playing by the rules you can turn around and sue them for wrongful termination. So all I'm saying is don't allow fear to control your life or influence your career , life is too short.Source: Free Articles from ArticlesFactory.com
