Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) is also known by the name of Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI). It is a disease spread through unprotected sexual activities including vaginal or anal penetration, intercourse, oral and anal sex. STDs are caused by pathogens such as viruses, bacterium, parasites or fungii. The main causes of transmission includes sexual contact, usage of IV drug needle after being in contact with an infected person or by birth in a child, whose either parent is infected or by breastfeeding.  HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) or commonly known as AIDS (Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome) is the deadliest STD which is still incurable.

The seriousness of STD
STDs are amongst the most deadliest diseases ever known and have been prevalent since more than a hundred years. Today, approximately around 200 to 400 million people worldwide are infected with STD and more than twenty sexually transmitted diseases have been identified. The problem here is that most of the STDs have very few or no symptoms and so it becomes difficult to know if a person is infected over a short period of time. Problems pertaining to STDs can be severely painful, irritating, weakening or sometimes even life threatening.

Complexities of STD
STDs can cause serious damage to the health and body. Some of the problems that are caused by STDs are pelvic inflammatory disease, inflammation of the cervix in women, inflammation of the urethra and prostrates in men and problems related to reproduction and fertility in both, men and women. An infected mother can give birth to an infant with problems such as blindness, permanent neurological damage or stillbirth.

Enlisting STDs
The number of diseases and problems that come under the category of STDs include viral diseases such as genital herpes (HSV), Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and HIV. These cannot be cured but can be prevented by medication. Gonorrhoea and Chlamydia are bacterial diseases that can be treated. Fungal diseases such as vaginal yeast infection or parasitic infections such as trichomoniasis can also be cured.

Give pleasure, not STD
A condom is a protective agent made up of latex/rubber with a lubricant which can reduce the possibilities of pregnancy and of spreading an STD infection during sexual intercourse. Condoms are to be rolled up on a man's erect penis. The condom blocks the semen to enter the vagina eliminating the chances of conception. A variety of condoms are available on the market having numerous variants in terms of characteristics and flavour. Some have long lasting and extra pleasure properties for enhanced pleasure, some have ribs and dots for extra friction while some are lightweight, giving protection and pleasure both. A female condom has also been introduced on the market. Amongst all available brands, 'CoolMann' and 'Durex' condoms are considered as the most preferred. Condoms made out of natural latex are much in demand these days. These condoms provide 98% effective in preventing pregnancy and protection against STDs.
