Ball State University Men’s Volleyball 2009 - Official Schedule Released

Joel Walton, the men’s volleyball head coach for Ball State University officially declared the team’s 2009 Volleyball schedule which will begin from 17 January 2009.

Walton will enter his 11th season as head volleyball coach for BSU’s in 2009. The Cardinals will play their first home match versus Stanford. Their second match will be held on 23 January against Penn State who are the current volleyball champions from 2008. Their next opponent will be St. Francis who will face them on Saturday 24 January at Loretto.

This year will start with a bigger challenge for the Cardinals as they face some of the best volleyball teams around, especially the current champions. By playing against some of the highly competitive teams early in the season, the Cardinals will be able to gear themselves for the league play to he held this year. Their next match will be against Lewis on 30 January, which will open the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association play in the fourth match of the season for the Cardinals.

A total of 7 matches have been scheduled for the month of February for the Cardinals, which will be held on 5, 6, 13, 20, 21, 27 and 28 February. The first 3 matches will be held at Munice, between 3 different teams for George Mason, Rutgers-Newark and Milwaukee School of Engineering. The next 2 matches for 20 and 21 February will take place at Milwaukee between Cardinals vs. Milwaukee School of Engineering and Cardinals vs. Carthage. The last two matches for February will again be held at Munice between Cardinals vs. IPFW and Cardinals vs. Loyola.

March 2009 will yet again bring some exciting volleyball with 11 matches scheduled to be held in the month. The first match will be held between Cardinals vs. Quincy, at Quincy on Thursday 5 March 2009. The schedule for the next matches is as follows: Cardinals vs. Grand Canyon University at Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday 7 March 2009, Cardinals vs. Grand Canyon University at Phoenix, Arizona on Sunday 8 March 2009 and Cardinals vs. Ohio State at Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday 11 March 2009.

Accordingly schedule continues with Cardinals vs. Lewis at Romeoville on Friday 13 March 2009, Cardinals vs. Loyola at Chicago on Saturday 14 March 2009, Cardinals vs. Carthage at Muncie on Tuesday 17 March 2009, Cardinals vs. Rutgers-Newark at Newark on Friday 20 March 2009, Cardinals vs. George Mason at Fairfax on Saturday 21 March, Cardinals vs. Ohio State at Munice on Friday 27 March 2009 and Cardinals vs. Quincy at Munice on Saturday 28 March 2009.

3 matches will be held in April 2009, after which the team will play in the 2009 MIVA Tournament to start from Saturday 25 April 2009 to Saturday 2 May 2009. The schedule for the three matches to be held in April is Cardinals vs. IPFW at Ft. Wayne on Saturday 11 April 2009, Cardinals vs. Penn State at Munice, on Friday 17 April 2009 and Cardinals vs. St. Francis at Munice on Saturday 18 April 2009.

The volleyball club will also participate in the 2009 NCAA Championship with the semifinals to be held on Thursday 7 May 2009 and the NCAA Championship to be held at Provo on Saturday 9 May 2009.
