Learn some tips and tricks about Black Sea Bass - that will help you catch a lot more of them

Black Sea Bass are generally shaded or colored dark grey or black as their name implies, they do not appear solid in this color, but instead they appear to be more netted or like a light colored fish wearing a mesh of black color. Unlike a lot of other fish, Black Sea bas look roughly the same color over their entire body, even their belly area is only faintly lighter then the rest of their body color.

Black Sea Bass are a very temperamental fish, in that they move around based on the seasons of the year, as the water temperature changes. They will tend to come close to shore and stay submerged in water that has a depth has shallow as 45 feet or so, when the water temperature is warm, like during the late spring and summer months.

When colder weather seasons of fall and winter are upon us, Black Sea Bass will head out, and stay submerged in deeper water, sometimes they will stay in water at these times of the year, that is deeper then 180 feet.

No matter what time of the year it is, and no matter what depth of water the Black Sea Bass are staying at, one thing they like doing is staying near the bottom, and especially around debris and structures such as; submerged trees, logs, shipwrecks, old bridge pilings, rocks and reefs.

Although Black Sea Bass are not a huge sized fish, they will still give you a nice battle, once hooked they use every ounce of their muscles to fight with all their might to escape.

When fishing for Black Sea Bass using bait, remember that they tend to hang near structures or debris on the bottoms, so you will want to use a sinker to get your bait down to the depths they are at. Some of the favorite live baits for them are; squid, clams, crabs, cigar minnows and mackerel.

If live baits are not available, you can use the before mentioned baits, cut into strips or chunks. When fishing for Black Sea Bass using lures, the favorite method is using jig's, baited with strips of squid or clams, heavy jig's are preferred to get them down to the depths where the Black Sea Bass are.
