The Northwest Wildcats is possible to be on the verge of playing its most important game in school history. They are currently 16-10 overall and 6-8 in Big Ten play. They are squarely on the NCAA Tournament bubble with four games to play.

All they have to do is win against the Michigan Wolverines – combined with an earlier marquee victory against then – No. 7 Michigan State – and they can be thrown to their very first-ever appearance in the Big Dance.

Earlier this year at Crisler Center, the Wildcats almost pounced at the Wolverines but has lost 66-64 in overtime.

Michigan Wolverines (20 – 7)
The Wolverines is a relevant team in the Big Ten title race for the very first time in recent memory. Their 56-51 win over Ohio State last Saturday is a huge reason why. With a loss, the Wolverines would have fallen two games behind first-place Michigan State in the conference standings. Now, they’re tied for second with the Buckeyes and are just one back. Ohio State will travel East Lansing the final week of the season, and Michigan State must still visit Bloomington to take on 24th-ranked Indiana.
The Michigan Wolverines can’t afford a setback as the Big Ten remained to be a wide-open race. They’ve lost three of their last five against the Wildcats.

Northwestern Wildcats (16-10)
Saturday judged that John Shurna is the team’s all-time leading scorer during the victory over Minnesota 64-53. Shurna is a senior forward and managed to score 18 points to give him 1,902 for his career – two more than Billy McKinney, who held the previous high of 1,900. Now, the Wildcats will need Shurna to deliver agains the Wolverines, something he’s always done at Welsh-Ryan Arena. In three previous home meetings against Michigan, Shurna has scored 56 points on 20-of-32 shooting. Northwestern has won three straight at home since falling to Purdue 58-56 on January 28.
