For many NFL football fans, the number one day during the off season is the first day of ESPN's broadcast of the NFL Draft. The Draft is fun to watch because it allows fans to see where their favorite college football players will go in the NFL and it also allows fans to see who their favorite team will be adding to their roster.

-Don Hasselbeck, drafted in the second round of the 1977 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots, had a very good NFL career as a TE. His sons Matt and Tim would go on to play quarterback in the league.

-The most tight ends ever taken in any one NFL Draft is 26. This occurred three times, in 1971, 1973, and 1975.

-1979 would be one of the best tight end drafts ever. A list of the best tight ends taken that year would include Kellen Winslow, Doug Cosbie, Dan Ross, John Spagnola, and Don Warren.
-The last time a tight end was not taken in the first round of the NFL Draft was 1999. The highest a tight end was taken that year was the 11th pick of the second round when the Falcons chose Reginald Kelly out of Mississippi State.

-Twin brothers Keith and Kerry Cash, both TE's in the NFL and both football players at the University of Texas, were both drafted into the NFL in 1991. Kerry was taken in the 5th round by the Indianapolis Colts and Keith was taken in the 7th round by the Washington Redskins.
-Dave Winfield had a great career as a Major League Baseball player that saw him play for the San Diego Padres, New York Yankees, California Angles, Toronto Blue Jays, and Minnesota Twins. He would eventually be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. He was also drafted as a tight end in 1973 by the Minnesota Vikings.
