Should You Repair or Replace Your Basketball Board?

If your basketball board is looking kind of rough, you might have to consider whether you need to repair it or just go ahead and replace it once and for all.

Your basketball board may see a lot of action, especially if there are a lot of kids in your neighborhood. Even if they never make a basket, the kids all gather outside and shoot the ball, making up games and playing the time honored games that you are probably familiar with. But, all of that time in the elements and all of the abuse of constant play may make your board look pretty old and may even cause it some visible damages, depending on the type of material. You might choose to repair it if there are only minor issues, give it a fresh coat of paint and then hang it back up but if the repairs are going to cost more than the board is worth or is going to take more than an hour or so, it might be time to replace it.

It might seem that the boards are pretty expensive, but if you divide the cost by the number of years you will have it, the cost is more reasonable. There are other reasons that you might want to buy a new board, whether you need to move it from its current location, you want to have it raised higher or you might want to have a bigger board. You may also choose a new one because you want a different type of material. For some people, the epitome is the glass backboard, so if that is what you would like to have, then you might consider using it when you are ready for a change.

You might be shocked to see how many of these boards might be sold at yard sales or in other places because they really do last a long time. And, the damages might be superficial in many cases. If you have a kid who changes their “favorite” sport more than they change their clothes, then you might choose a used board until you are sure that the love is real this time. If you do buy a used board, make sure that you have all of the correct mounts and mounting hardware because this is another area where damages are common.

If you have kids who have gone off on your own, don’t be so quick to take the basketball board down. They will come back, bringing grandchildren along with them. They may play ball and remind you of the old days. You can also get out there and shoot hoops every now and thenArticle Search, just you and your spouse. It’s a fun way to reconnect and it is also a great way to lose weight and tone your arms in the process. Keep the basketball board and lose the old feeling.
