Santa Anita Park hosting the event 5 times, and Churchill Downs hosing it the most going into it’s seventh time hosting the event in 2010, and already scheduled to host it again in 2011. The third most hosted track is Belmont Park at 3 times.
NBC was the only channel to broadcast the Breeders Cup up until 2005. Having covered the Cup since it’s inception in 1984. Taking over in 2006 ESPN is now the home of the Breeders Cup on television, with Trevor Denman a long time sportscaster and public-address announcer who has specialized in horse racing as the voice of the station. Having coined such phrases as “scraping the paint” to “they would need sprout wings to catch the leader”, Denman brings a new level of excitement to this historic race.
The 2008 and 2009 events at Santa Anita were the first time that the annual event was held in consecutive years at the same track. These also mark the first times that the event was held on an artificial racing surface.
