The soccer jersey-why is it an important part of the kit

Very often you will see fans sporting a soccer jersey with the name and number of their favourite player. 

In the game of football there are five items that make up the kit. One of them is the soccer jersey. It is mandatory that the soccer jersey has sleeves which could be either long or short. Over the next two decades with the popularity of the sport further on the rise company sponsorships were beginning and their logos too needed a place on the soccer jersey. The size of the logo is dependent upon the rules.

Towards the end of the twentieth century the soccer jersey was made of lighter material and the replicas of the soccer jersey of popular players found a niche market. The soccer jersey is made of a polyester mesh that dries the sweat easily and keeps the body cool.

The soccer jersey sports the number of the player and his name or nickname above or below it. The numbers usually denote the position of the player with each position on the field having a number. The captain of the team will have a distinguishing band or something to denote his status to the referee and the team supporters.
